This is a great movement for developing explosion for athletes because when done correctly, it trains triple extension: the near simultaneous firing of the ankles, knees, and hips. Triple extension exists in all power and speed sports. This is one of the reasons the Olympic lifts are so popular for athletics. As you can see, you can train the same groove with stones.
